Heart of a Dog Official Trailer 1 (2015) – Documentary Movie HD

Acclaimed musician and performance artist Laurie Anderson presents her meditation on love and death as relates to her dog in this playful, lucid and heartbreaking nonfiction feature. Dedicated to Anderson’s late husband Lou Reed (who floats almost unseen throughout), Heart Of A Dog takes as a jumping off point the recent passing of Anderson’s beloved terrier Lolabelle. Touching on what her love for her dog means to her by processing her childhood, music, and her life as an artist, Anderson draws upon her childhood experiences and political beliefs as she lovingly tries to help Lolabelle’s spirit face the immediate tribulations it will experience immediately after death. Aided by a beautiful use of her own compositions, animation and 8 millimeter film from her family archive, Anderson creates a gorgeous tapestry on love and loss – reminding us that every love story is a ghost story.

  1. LAURIE is a TRUE VISIONARY and HER MUSIC is BRILLIANT!!!!!
I have been a fan since the 80's but what really gets me is that I lost my dog recently too, my greatest love.

So I'm looking forward to seeing this, with great sadness.

    THANK YOU for POSTING!!!!

  2. This movie was HORRIBLE. This was sickening the dog that she claimed to love so much spent its final bleak hours suffering on a beanbag. This dog should have been shot long before it died. The dog owner and writer of this movie hates life itself and everything good and decent The entire movie is just her complaints of how horrible life is, and how this dog is the only thing preventing her suicide. first she tells about the September 11th Attacks and how scary it was for her. In fact it was so traumatizing to see that she had to move o a beach and play with her pathetic dog for three years. WE ALL REMEMBER 9/11 WE ALL WERE THERE we didn't complain like her. Neither did the families of the dead. This poor dog was the center of this insane women's life. She had the dog play piano as well she thought it was so cute. She would take a clicker which made a sound that the dog hated and play it over and over in this dogs ear when the dog tried to swat the clicker away it pressed keys on a piano. She should be in jail for the treatment of this lovely creature. This was the WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN.

  3. Laurie Anderson is beyond words, but I'll try: a lyrical soul of the universe always stepping out into the unknown with her feet on the ground of being/becoming. She has a whimsical creativity that transforms, delights and deepens life…You can feel her utter delight as an artist of sound, light, words and now, barks. It's all a manifestation of big love.

  4. Three other films Laurie Anderson wrote the soundtrack for:

Valérie Donzelles "Fight for Life" (2011)
Julian Schnabel's "Before Night Falls" (2000)
Wong Kar-wais "Saints in neon" (1995)
